There will be a special fundraising event at Gaden Choling on Thursday May 6th, at 7pm, to support victims of the recent Yushu earthquake. Matt King, who was actually in the vicinity during the earthquake and is just back in town, will talk about his visit to various significant sites in Lama Tsongkhapa's and Zasep Rinpoche's early life. Please read Matt's announcement below.

Hi everyone
I am going to show slides from my recent trip to Eastern Tibet (Amdo and parts of Kham). During the trip I had the chance to visit sites associated with the early life of Je Tsongkhapa (the founder of the Gelug school) and also Zasep Rinpoche's homeland, and I took lots of pictures which I would love to share. This slide show will focus mostly on these sites from Lama Tsongkhapa and Rinpoche's early life.
On the way to Rinpoche's village, my traveling companion and I were in Jyekundo city (Yushu city) for several days, leaving the day before the devastating earthquake. We saw how much suffering it caused, and how much rebuilding it will take for those poverty-stricken survivors to have shelter, electricity, clean water etc. I am doing this to raise funds which can be contributed towards relief agencies committed to long-term rebuilding in Jyekundo.
So, this coming Thursday, May 6 at 7pm, please come out! There will be a $5 suggested donation, and some snacks and beverages (bring some to share if you want!).
Matt
